Yiwarra Kuju: The Canning Stock Route Overview
Discover more than 120 contemporary paintings, cultural objects and remarkable new media work which reclaim the untold Aboriginal history of the Canning Stock Route - the world’s longest stock route through the deserts of Western Australia. One of the toughest and most remote tracks in the world, the Canning Stock Route runs 1800km from Halls Creek to Wiluna. The development of this ultimately unsuccessful cattle route dramatically affected the lives of Aboriginal people and this groundbreaking exhibition focuses on telling their story in their voice, through their art and objects.
